Where There's a Will There's a Way

Colm has been longing to ride a dirt bike like his brothers, and on Saturday his Daddy made his dreams come true. As you may already know, Colm has cerebral palsy and it affects the motor skills in both of his legs. He is unable to walk without canes or a walker. Both of his brothers Kieran and Conor have been riding dirt bike motorcycles since they were 4, and he wanted to be just like them. He was no longer satisfied with riding together with his Dad.

Well his very clever Daddy gathered up pieces that he had salvaged and stored, and made outrigger wheels for Conor and Kieran's old 50cc Yamaha motorcycle. Colm picked up the fundamentals of riding very quickly and was racing around the yard in no time. It was wonderful to see the delight and joy in his face. I don't think anything will ever stop this boy!

While her little brother was learning to ride, Kievah learned how to swing! Her big brothers took great care of her and pushed her back and forth for well over an hour. I think she would happily have stayed on that swing for many more hours, but finally came in for supper

OK, that leaves tears in my eyes. Your DH reminds me so much of mine in the way you speak of him. And the genius behind his design. You could probably sell this to other families you know!

I am so impressed to read they are getting along too. We are getting there every so slowly. :) and :(
