Last Day in Guangzhou

Happily today is our last day in Guangzhou! Happily because it means we are nearly on our way home, however it has been a very enjoyable stay, with a great guide, good company, and lots of interesting and fun sight seeing outings.

The hotel we stayed in - Asia International, was great. The restaurant, where breakfast is served each morning, is on the 45th floor and is revolving. The pictures on this post were taken from there this morning. It has given us a great view of the whole city each day - such an enormous metropolis with over 10 million residents.

Breakfast is an enormous buffet - with fresh sushi served every day in the Japanese section. Don't be too jealous Sam!

Today we packed, had lunch at the KFC next door, and are now waiting for our guide Maggie to come back from the US consulate with Kievah's passport and visa.

Kievah is very partial to hot wings, so I think we will be headed to lots of wing nights when we get home. She loves spicy food and nothing seems too hot for her, I think we will need to add tabasco sauce to the pantry. The food in Hunan province is quite spicy and they say the girls from the province are spicy too - so far she certainly lives up to this description.

Tomorrow we leave for Hong Kong by minivan at 10am. The drive is about 3 hours, and we will go straight to the Marriott at the airport, where we will stay overnight. Only 2 more days and we will be home.

You'll have to pick up some of my cayenne peppers from the Sharing Place once the harvest starts. And/or I'll give you some of the ones I dry at the end of the year... I put hot peppers on just about everything. What a girl!
